Sharing Themselves

This past week was one of sharing and caring! Cameron's kindergarten class performed a beautiful, patriotic concert for their families. Each of the children wore a T-shirt they decorated themselves. The concert began with the Pledge of Alligance, and then the singing of the National Anthem. The children sang it first, and then the audience sang it with them. They sang other songs including "Proud To Be An American" and "You're A Grand Old Flag." They even stepped off the bleachers to do some choreography with their singing about sacrificing for our country. They each held a little American Flag that they waved in some of their songs. Between each of the numbers, a few of the children read sentences they had written telling why they like living in America. It was touching and good to reflect on the blessings we have as American citizens.

Cari was also involved in a concert this past week. She plays the flute and is part of her high school's Symphony Orchestra. They gave a beautiful concert and will be heading to Salt Lake City in a couple of weeks for a State Competition.



On April 30th, 2009, the students of Three Falls Elementary school brought quarters to school that they had collected to help fight cancer. The students lined up around the track at their school. Cancer survivors, and others affected by cancer, ran around the track in a "Relay For Life." Each of the students held out a hand to high-five the runner. It was a humbling and special time to see these runners and to realize how many we love and know who are affected by cancer. After they finished their laps around the track, each class took a turn running around the track. Cameron ran a mile, and Kristi ran too. Every time I drove by the school that day, someone was running. It was an expression of love the children and I will not soon forget.
