I wish I would have taken a picture of Sadie this past week. She put on a wig and wore an "old lady" dress and glasses to school as part of Spirit Week. I did however catch Cari sporting the wig and this is the picture I got:


Saturday was a beautiful day and I was in the mood to do some yard work. As I was trimming the hedges, I disturbed a wasp nest and ended up getting stung. OOOOUCH!!! Later, Trevon and Cameron attempted to get rid of the yellow pests using rackets and a B B Gun. Saturday fun for them.


On Saturday night, Trevon and Mike gathered with about 10,000 people at the fair grounds to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America. They made it for the closing ceremonies, but it was an all day event.


The boys enjoyed listening to the performance of a musical group (T minus 5), as well as fireworks and a taped message from President Monson.

EEEEK!!!

Sunday night, after getting home from a Court of Honor (for Scouts), the kids introduced us to a little king snake they found slithering in our hall way. Sadie was playing the piano when Cameron spotted "Sid." He brought it to the attention of everyone else. The kids chased it into the bathroom and eventually used some cardboard to scoop the snake up and place it in a container. Corban was carrying the container around when we got home, very excited about his new found "pet."





Sadie is going to ask her science teacher if she would like to have it. If not, I'm not sure what the plan is....I really really really don't want a snake around!

Homecoming 2010

Friday night Mike and I went to the high school's homecoming game where we met up with Sadie, Cari and Trevon.

Cari and Trevon played in the pep band the entire game. The TIGERS won the game; 55 to 28!

On Saturday, Trevon had his first date (for homecoming). He and five other friends planned a day date of rappelling with their dates. They met at 11am, picked up their dates and traveled to Red Cliffs with our neighbor Joe and his wife, who led them in the activity. They began with a picnic lunch (sandwiches, chips, potato salad, punch). They forgot to bring forks to eat with, but they all managed without them. After they ate, they hiked up a canyon to the cliff where they rappelled. They had fun. Everyone was nervous to rappel, but they each safely made the 60ft. drop. All but one of the kids did it twice before they headed back home. They only planned to be gone until 3pm, but the activity ended up taking them longer and Trevon wasn't home until 5pm. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures of this activity in the near future.

Trevon's date, Lauren had a gold dress and Trevon eventually found a tie that matched her perfectly! Here he is before leaving to pick her up for dinner.

The "group" met at Tanner's house for dinner. They started with salad and a roll. Then, ate chicken cordon blue with a baked potato, and broccoli. For dessert they had a mud pie.

Jon, Laura, Trevon, Lauren, Braydon, Kilie, Josh, Amanda, Tanner, Sariah, Joe and Megan.


The dance was held outside at Litchfield Ponds. They had their pictures taken and danced before going to Josh's house where they had a second dessert of root beer floats just before ending the date at midnight (curfew). Trevon had a great first date and is glad that he decided to go to Homecoming.

Dancing Elise

Elise loves to dance. She says that when she grows up she is going to be a dancer. I thought we would let her take a class and see how it goes. Tuesday she had her first class, and enjoyed every minute of it!



She learned some ballet steps and positions. She did leaps over frisbees and had a smile on her face the entire time. The above video was taken at the end of her class, a fun dancing game.

Labor Day Weekend

On Friday night, my sister Sara arrived with her three boys from Flagstaff,AZ. It was great spending time with them. The kids played well together. Saturday morning, Sara and I woke early to get in a run together. I enjoyed visiting with her as we ran. We took the kids to the "Peach Days" parade, where we were able to see Cari (piccolo) and Trevon (Trumpet) in the parade.



Elise, Brock, Wyatt, Corban, Kristi, Cameron and Bodie all enjoyed collecting candy during the parade that lasted an hour long!

Soon after the parade, we loaded up the cars and headed for Ely Nevada to visit my dad. My brother Aaron was there with his son Ben from Brigham City. Dad made us a yummy vegetarian lasagna for lunch, that was ready for us when we arrived.
That afternoon,Mike and Trevon went exploring on the RHINO in the nearby mountains.



When they got back, I received a lesson on driving the RHINO and had my turn.



We spent the rest of the day taking turns riding the many trails that surrounded my dad's house. With each turn I had I became a little more daring. It was fun!



Sunday morning we attended my dad's ward. After church, he gave us a tour of the town, showing us the "highlights" on our drive back to his house. We spent the rest of the day enjoying one another and visiting. Mike made us all peach cobbler (with ice cream) for a sweet treat.



The kids played non-stop together. They were very creative in making swords, crowns and shields for their play. Poor Trevon was down after getting hit (right where it hurts)!

After cleaning up and playing some more, we headed home on Monday. Grandpa was a great host and very patient with us and the evidence we left behind of our visit!

This past week, Trevon received his "answer" from Lauren regarding Homecoming...

It went along perfectly with how he asked her. Very clever!

Kristi celebrated a birthday! It was a busy day that included two dentist appointments and a meeting for Relief Society. Mike worked late, so we celebrated at 9pm! Kristi requested having a "Strawberry Shortcake" cake on her birthday (her usual birthday cake request). I baked a white cake and covered it with whipped cream and strawberries. We ate it with vanilla ice cream.

Corban wanted so badly to blow out the candles. A very tired Kristi opened up some gifts, many of which were candy.

She got a new watch and some headbands. Grandma and Papa sent a nice card and money. Sadie and Corban made very cute cards for her too. All her sisters gave her candy, and so did I! Sweets for a sweet girl!

Thursday night, Cari was officially sworn in as a member of the Hurricane City Youth Council. She seemed a little nervous to stand in front of everyone who was at the meeting. In the picture below, she is shaking Mayor Hirschi's hand.

That same evening, Mike, Cari and Kristi entered their baked goods in the Peach Days contest. Mike made Peanut Blossom cookies (using a TOBLERONE candy instead of a Hershey's Kiss), Cari entered Chocolate Chip cookies, and Kristi made a spice cookie.


Cari and Kristi both received a second place ribbon and Mike received a first place ribbon....and the rest of us have plenty of goodies in the freezer to last us a little while!
