A visit to the Utah State Legislature

On Tuesday, Cari woke very early so that she could catch a 5:30am bus with her AP Government class. They were headed to Salt Lake City to tour the capitol building, meet with Senator Brad Last, and watch the legislature in action.

She took a lot of pictures on her field trip. I have included a few of them:

This room has items in it from around the world: tapestries from Italy; mirrors and chandeliers from France; a table (made from wood of a now extinct tree) from Russia; and more.

In the courthouse, she saw where part of the second Legally Blonde movie was filmed.

She saw people protesting a house bill.

She watched the legislature in action.

She even took a picture of the bathroom. The stalls were marble and just as beuatiful as the rest of the House. She loved it!

She ended up being on the news too. Channel 2 questioned her and some of her classmates about how they would grade their school. She was a little nervous to have a microphone put in her face, but she answered the question and her Grampa Matheson happened to see her on the news that night!
