Our Spring Break Week

We had a GREAT week together, working and playing together! Mike spent many hours finishing the bathroom downstairs, and it looks great! He is a handy man to have around! After finishing the tile, we put up a big mirror and installed a new granite vanity that had been boxed up in our garage for a couple years - just waiting! We also bought a new dual flush toilet, that Corban can't flush, yet. Base boards and trim were the last of our labors (for now). Everything looks great and it is so nice to have a functional bathroom again! We have a few loose ends to finish, including a back splash, bathroom closet AND accessories. FUN! Between the work, we had some fun. Cari logged some driving time when she, Mike and Trevon went to Brian Head Ski Resort to ski for a day. The ski resort is less than 2 hours from where we live. Even though they used sunscreen, Trevon ended up looking like a raccoon. He had a red face, with white rings around his eyes, where his sun-glasses had been. He attempted his first ski jumps and did pretty well keeping up with his dad. Cari enjoyed herself as well. Shelly took everyone else to the park to play after doing some housework that day.
We recently started a new tradition of a "girls' night out" in our family. Once a month, we take time for just mom and the girls to do something, whether fun or educational or both! This past week, we took Elise to get her immunizations for kindergarten, and then went to the dollar theater to see "Bolt" and share two extra large buckets of popcorn! We enjoyed ourselves and the boys are wanting to do the same now, with Mike. Hopefully, these days together will strengthen the relationships we have with each other, while adding to our memories.
At the end of our week, we had a family fun day, where we ate In-N-Out at a park in Washington (near St. George) and then went shopping at Costco and at Hurricane's brand new Wal-Mart store. Each child was able to buy some clothes or shoes for themselves. Later that night, Mike and Shelly had a night out together while the kids watched "Bolt," a surprise purchased on our day out together.
We enjoyed watching fireworks at our local grocery store's grand reopening and Mike, Shelly, Cari, Trevon and Sadie were able to attend the Draper Utah Temple Dedication on Sunday. It is wonderful knowing that in the world in which we live there are holy places we can go; our own home being one of them.

  1. Your bathroom looks lovely. Parade of homes watch out for the Beutlers!

Skiing sounded like fun as well. Poor raccoon boy.

Walmart will be wonderful being so close to home.

The dedication was lovely. I was glad that we were also able to attend.

  3. The bathroom looks great!!! It sounds like you guys had a fun spring break - I am so envious of the skiing especially! Ours was nothing exciting but we did enjoy some fun family time. There isn't a whole lot Mike can do with his neck so we stayed close to home! I can't believe how grown up the kids are looking! Time just flies by and I never see it coming!!

  4. The bathroom looks awsome! How fun for you. Sounds like you had a great spring break. Our spring break was pretty much taken up by getting ready for the Trek, being on the Trek, and recovering from the Trek. But it was awesome.
